Healthy Schools

The National Healthy Schools Programme (NHSP) promotes the link between good health, behaviour and achievement through four key areas: healthy eating; physical activity; personal, social and health education (PSHE); and emotional health and well-being. The previous government set targets for the number of schools achieving National Healthy School Status, which involved meeting a minimum number of criteria. The current government has committed to support the NHSP by providing information toolkits. At Preston Candover School we work hard to promote the good health and social well-being of both pupils and staff and have enjoyed Healthy Schools status for several years.

We have achieved The Healthy Schools Challenge Award where we focused on the Emotional Health  of children in our school. We pride ourselves on our caring ethos and our last Ofsted inspection graded us as ‘outstanding’, commenting that ‘Healthy School status is reflected in pupil’s extremely good knowledge about the importance of keeping safe and healthy’ and that ‘pupils understand the ethos and principles that underpin their highly positive respect and consideration for others’.

We were delighted to have achieved our healthy schools re-accreditation.
